ode to the old shoes

those old shoes
like old friends
can simply
not
be matched
by anything newer or
flashier
when it comes right
down
to
it

they are curved
right where
long wear
has shaped
them

they might seem
lackluster
to some
perhaps not
good for
dancing

but at home
around all things
closest to
my heart
they sure
do
fit
